Par Pharmaceutical Teams with enVista to Improve Order and Fulfillment Process

INDIANAPOLIS, June 30, 2007--Par Pharmaceutical, a $423 million manufacturer and distributor of generic and brand name drugs in the United States, recently selected enVista to help them assess and resolve the company’s current order wave and fulfillment process. enVista implemented their lean process methodology to review Par’s current procedures within order wave and fulfillment. enVista’s methodology included interviewing executive and key stakeholders within each applicable functional area within the scope of this engagement, as well as collecting background data that could be analyzed and validated during enVista’s on-site assessment. As a result of enVista’s lean process assessment, Par was able to accomplish two major improvements to their order wave and fulfillment process.

First, Par significantly reduced the previous time delay of entering,
validating, and allocating a customer order. Through their analysis,
enVista identified several non-value added steps in Par’s current
order validating and allocation process that could either be removed or streamlined, thus allowing orders to be passed to the warehouse for fulfillment according to the company’s time expectations. In addition, Par has established a monitoring process to review order fulfillment timeliness and quickly identify any orders that fall outside this time window proactively.

In addition, enVista was able to help Par increase their fulfillment
throughput within the warehouse. During the lean process assessment, enVista benchmarked Par’s case picking throughput and found that is was significantly less then best in class or average picking for other comparable companies. Par was able to implement several recommendations made by the enVista team around picking team assignment and product handling and has now improved their case picking efficiency by almost three times the volume.
