Presentation Explores How to Leverage the Strengths of Each Generation in Today's Workforce to Maximize Productivity and Harmony in the Workplace

Indianapolis, IN, January 26, 2010– enVista, a leading Enterprise Cost Management Consulting Firm announced today that it has been invited by the Indianapolis Chamber of Commerce to present, “The Generational Divide: The Positive Attributes That Each Generation Brings to the Workforce,” on February 25, 2010 from 9:00am to 4:30pm at the Indiana Chamber Conference Center. The full-day presentation is open to all business leaders and focuses on how to leverage the advantageous qualities of each generation in a way that advances organizational goals and fosters a harmonious work environment.

enVista Manager of Human Capital and co-presenter Brette Andrews said, “There are currently four generations in the workplace, more than ever before. Each generation brings unique perspectives, expectations and behaviors, resulting in new challenges and opportunities. This presentation focuses on how companies can harness the strengths of each generation, bridge the generational divide, and create a unified workforce.”

According to the U.S. Department of Labor:

  • 60% of organizations report some sort of generational friction in the workplace

  • By 2010, 50% of the U.S. population will be at retirement age and there will be a 31% drop in 35-45 year olds

  • Once the economy improves, 54% of the U.S. workforce plans to leave their current position and 71% of workers under the age of 29 plan to leave their current jobs

  • Younger leaders struggle most when managing older employees

  • “Interesting work” is the top priority (62.5%) of people under the age of 30

enVista President and CEO Jim Barnes said, “Managing human capital effectively is a key component to competitive advantage and enterprise excellence. enVista's Human Capital Enrichment services help companies understand how to find, motivate, and retain top talent in a global, multi-generational business environment.”

Barnes added, “enVista's success is largely due to the talent of our associates. We are now helping other companies apply the same recruiting and management model and philosophy to improve the caliber of their talent and increase labor productivity.”
