news announcementS Sport Chalet to Utilize enVista's Logistics Cost Management Services to Improve Supply Chain Efficiencies LOS ANGELES - January 22, 2003 - enVista, a leading provider of tailored logistics and transportation cost management solutions, has announced that Sport Chalet, Inc. (Nasdaq: SPCH), a premier, super-sporting goods chain, is utilizing a variety of their logistics cost management services in order to optimize their distribution center and overall supply chain. enVista will be streamlining material flow across the supply chain from Sport Chalet's suppliers to its 28 retail stores throughout California and Nevada. Reductions in transportation cost, lead-time and inventory turns are the anticipated benefits for Sport Chalet. This initiative enables Sport Chalet to become more effective and efficient with material movement, leading to improvements in the way merchandise is moved to their stores, so that it is "store ready" when it arrives. As part of the streamlining process, enVista is re-designing Sport Chalet's 325,000 square foot distribution facility in Ontario, California and making recommendations for material handling equipment and process improvements. This will help Sport Chalet see increased efficiencies throughout their operation. enVista is also developing an internal, inbound freight strategy to improve visibility and optimization of incoming merchandise. A more structured plan will enable Sport Chalet to reduce their inbound transportation costs.
